Amazon.com Inc. has leased 280,000 square feet at Hines’ Summit III tower in downtown Bellevue, according to Colliers International’s latest Puget Sound region research and forecast report.

The Business Journal last month reported Amazon signed a lease for space in the 17-story, 377,000-square-foot building at 320 108th Ave. NE, but the lease has yet to be confirmed by either Amazon, developer Hines or listing broker The Broderick Group.

Colliers’ report reveals the size of Amazon’s lease in Summit III. Hines recently obtained the building permit for Summit III and hired JTM Construction to build the project, which Hines has said is “a high-density building for technology tenants.”

Amazon has yet to respond to a request for more information.

Amazon has now leased more than 1 million square feet in Bellevue. The company in August signed a lease for all 400,000 square feet in Tower 333, the 20-story building Expedia plans to vacate and in April 2017 leased the 354,000-square-foot Centre 425 building.

Summit III is across the street from Tower 333 and a block away from Centre 425.

Amazon spokesman Sam Kennedy said at the time of Amazon’s Tower 333 lease that the company already had 2,000 employees in Bellevue and plans to add 2,500 additional employees by 2020.

Amazon has 8.7 million square feet in Seattle, according to a Kidder Mathews report last fall, and the company plans to occupy an additional 4 million square feet in the city by 2020. Amazon plans to have 55,000 employees in Seattle by 2022.
